In case you missed the speech on TV, you can always watch an edited version through CNN or the Student News clip that you can find via new CNN Student News link on the homepage.
Your assignment: (due Monday, November 24 for D block and Tuesday, November 25 for C block) You are expected to write a one page reaction to President Obama's speech last night. The point of this assignment is to get you thinking about the government of the United States, how it works, how it affects you, and how you and other people react to these powers (such as a Presidential Executive Action). For your response you can address each of the following questions, one of them, or focus more on his speech in general. The questions are meant to assist you, not hinder your individual thought or creativity in answering this question. Use your opinion and Fact to answer the prompt.
Today's CNN Student News is very informative. If you get a chance, watch it. It addresses issues that we are discussing in class and topics that you should know! The first 4 minutes are the most important. Imagine all that snow! What's your opinion on the Keystone Pipeline?
Tonight, President Obama will address the nation. Pay attention to what he talks about. Come to the next class with some background information on his speech. He will be talking about Immigration. What is his opinion? What is his plan? Be prepared to discuss this in comparison with the Founding Father's ideas about the Executive Branch of government. And get outside and play!!! Homework due Monday, November 17 (or Tuesday the 18th): Be prepared to Debate! Are you a Federalist or an Anti-Federalist? Know your delegate's stance! This is your chance to do this: Part Two: Choose at least three of the issues addressed at the Convention and write a position statement for each as to how your delegate feels about that issue. You will use these at the convention during debate on the issues. (ONLY choose ONE!!) OR: Simply write a one page response as if you are your delegate describing how your delegate does/would feel the day or night before the first big debate of the Constitution Convention. This should be at least 1/2-3/4 page typed. New Terms!!
