These are the notes for the Constitution. Pay close attention to Articles IV-VII (Articles 4-7).

Preamble - mission statement of the constitution
Article I - Establishes legislature - bicameral (2 parts) House and Senate
Article II - executive branch - president. President Obama’s immigration executive order - grant temporary residence to illegal immigrants who are not criminals. Executive order 9066 - FDR established Japanese internment camps.
Article III - Judicial branch. Establishes supreme court. 9 justices. Chief Justice John Roberts. Marbury v. Madison establishes judicial review, which determines if laws are constitutional.
Article IV - States have control of their own affairs. States can have different laws, but shouldn’t be drastically different. Other states have to agree to admit new states. States are equal.
Article V - How to pass amendments. There are 27 amendments. 1-10 are the Bill of Rights - secure individual rights. Last amendment was added in 1992.
Article VI - Constitution is the supreme law of the land. All states and gov’t members must follow the constitution.
Article VII - Constitution was ratified July 2, 1788 by Constitutional Congress.
19th amendment in 1920 gave women the right to vote.
Know the following amendments:
1-10, 13, 14, 15, 19, 22, 24, 26 (voting when you’re 18)
